Biblical scholar R. B. Y. Scott was born in Toronto and received his B.A. (1922), M.A. (1924) and Ph.D. (1928) from the University of Toronto. From 1928 to 1931 he was Professor of Old Testament language and literature at the Union College of British Columbia and from 1931 to 1955 at the United Theological College of Montréal. From 1948 until 1955 he taught Old Testament at McGill and served as Dean of the Faculty of Divinity from 1948 to 1949. From 1955 until 1968 he was Professor of religion at Princeton. Scott was a member of the World Council of Churches (1949-1955) and chairman of the Canadian Ecumenical Study Committee (1951-1955). His publications centre on topics in Old Testament languages and Biblical archeology.

She was a teacher. As Louisa Costigan, she obtained a model school diploma from McGill Normal School in 1860. In 1871, she was one of the founders of the Ladies' Educational Association of Montreal and the same year she organized her own school "The Montreal Seminary". From 1875 to 1887, she served as the first Principal of the High School for Girls in Montreal, Quebec. She helped establish the school and create a good reputation for it in Montreal. She was married to Rev. John Scott (1835-), a Methodist minister.

James Scott was born in 1815 in Gospenth, Northumberland, England. The 1851 England Census lists his occupation as Colliery Viewer. He came to Canada, and was the manager of the Albion Mines in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. He died March 11, 1865, in Nova Scotia.

Dr. James Foster Scott was born on January 22, 1863, in Futtehghur, Uttar Pradesh, India.

He was a physician and author. He attended Hastings Academy, Philadelphia, and Yale College (B.A., 1884), where he was an athlete who rowed on the varsity team and developed his great love of rivers and boats. He received an M.B. and C.M. from Edinburgh University and later an M.D., completing his post-graduate work at Vienna. As a member of the Volunteer Medical Staff Corps of the British army, he spent three years in the British West Indies. In 1890, he became head of the Columbia Hospital in Washington, D.C., and was elected vice president of the Medical Society. He was considered one of the most brilliant young doctors. He wrote a medical book, still quoted by authorities (The Sexual Instinct: Its Use and Dangers as Affecting Heredity and Morals, 25 editions published between 1898 and 2018). At the height of this early success and amid a brilliant career and fashionable life in Washington D.C., Dr. Scott astonished his friends by giving it up and going to the wilds of the Yukon, after which he lived a retired life in the Virginia woods (near McLean) and spent time rowing the Potomac. He was sometimes called the "Hermit of Scott's Island," an island he bought along the Potomac, upon which he built a house. Dr. Scott wrote numerous volumes on philosophy with special emphasis on ethics and Christianity.

In 1940, he married Karen Mabel (Evans) Gram (1862–1942). He died on February 20, 1946, and is buried in Milford, Pike County, Pennsylvania.

Scott, Fredrick Arthur

Fredrick Arthur Scott was born in 1914 to Alfreda and William Scott. Fredrick attended Llewellyn Hall between 1926 and 1930, and McGill University between 1933 and 1938, where he received a Bachelor of Science. In 1939-1940, Fredrick completed his training with the Royal Canadian Air Force, 30 (R.A.F) Squadron, and was deployed to Egypt. Piloting a Spitfire, Pilot Officer Scott was carrying out fighter protection duties over a British convoy, en route to Tobruch when he was shot down in late January 1942. His body was recovered by HMS Hotspur, and Scott received a naval burial at sea, March 5th, 1942. A memorial to Scott is at the El-Alamein War Cemetery, in El-Alamein Egypt.
