He plans to purchase a small place in Toronto to which he can retire. Johnson urges his son to take his examinations and to earn his degree, a good standing, and some money, as Osler and Arthur Johnson did.

He encourages his son to visit with Mr. Wood and to take advantage of all opportunities while in Montreal. Letter to James Bovell (Jimmie) Johnson from W.A. Johnson, St. Philip's, Weston, Ontario, Canada. Johnson thanks his son for paying E.C.W.(?) in full. He is glad Jimmie went to London University, but he believes it to be an "infidel" foundation. He warns Jimmie that it will be a dangerous school for him, as it was for Osler. He suggests that Jimmie read Mivart's "Lessons from Nature." Partly published in Cushing, vol. I, pp. 147-8.
