History

Rev. Alfred M. Stowe was born on March 9, 1819, in Marlborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.

He was a Presbyterian clergyman. In 1849, he graduated from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, and served as his graduating Class Secretary into the 1880s. He was a pastor at the Canandaigua Presbyterian Church for over thirty-five years. During this time, Stowe acted at different periods as an agent and collector for the American Tract Society and the Auburn Female Seminary.

About 1855, he married Harriet P. (1822-1894). He died on April 19, 1895, in Canandaigua, Ontario County, New York.
