        History

        William Bruce Ross was born in Montreal in 1905 and earned his B.Sc. (in Arts) in 1930 and M.Sc. in 1931, both at McGill. As an undergraduate he was particularly active with the Red and White Revue as author, actor, songwriter, and producer. He joined the Mathematics Department as a lecturer in 1932, was the first Warden of Douglas Hall (1939-1940), was promoted to Assistant Professor in 1942, was Lecturer in the University Army Course (radio) in 1943, and served as Assistant Registrar from 1946 until his death in 1955.
