        History

Raphael Tuck and Sons was a family business started in London in 1866. They were one of the best known sellers of pictures, greeting cards and eventually postcards. Most of the printing featured in their cards was contracted to printers in Germany as their own office did not have the equipment for colour printing. In 1893 the company received a Royal Warrant of Appointment, becoming Art Publishers to Her Majesty the Queen. Their offices were destroyed during the Blitz in 1940 and never fully recovered, eventually disbanding to combine with other companies.
