History

Louis-Gustave Papineau was a civil engineer. He studied at l'École Polytechnique de Montréal. He supervised the construction of the Lachine and Chambly Canals, as well as the Saint-Ours locks. He also participated in the development work of the ports in Montreal and Sorel. He was the son of Augustin-Cyrille Papineau and Louisa Trudeau. He married Juliette MacKay (1863-1943) in 1882.
