        History

        Born in England and trained as a lawyer, Oldham immigrated to Quebec in the 1790s and practiced law in Terrebonne. He was elected to the National Assembly in 1820 and died in office. As a politician, he had a particular interest in schools and English education. He was the nephew of Jacob Jordan, the seigneur of Terrebonne.
