Exterior view photograph. United Nations Pavilion exterior. Flags of all 122 member nations found their place on the plaza of the United Nations Pavilion. A circular glazed exhibition building sat at the plaza's centre featuring the United Nations charter and showcasing the important work of the United Nations. Below the plaza was a 300 seat auditorium which played popular movies included the Academy Award winning film "To Be Alive". A restaurant operated by the Government of Pakistan overlooks the courtyard and boasts a diverse menu representing the many cultures associated with the United Nations. Rectangular plaza centred by a cylindrical volume. Reinforced concrete slab with concrete columns and ring beams with steel bar joists. Cladding of exposed sand blasted concrete. Exterior view photograph. Tunisia Pavilion exterior (lot C-468). The single storey Tunisia Pavilion was designed with traditional Tunisian architecture in mind. The blank, white facade was intricately lined with blue tiles at its base. The entire pavilion was surrounded by a moat, reflective of the country's Mediterranean setting. The pavilion consisted of exhibition areas and a restaurant arranged around a central patio. A skydome located over the patio brought light into the building's core. Craftsmen could be found through the exhibition beating copper or making carpets by hand. The 100 seat restaurant served traditional Tunisian cuisine. Rectangular volume. The colorful Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada Pavilion was designed to convey the spirit of liveliness, music and dance characteristic of the island culture. The pavilion's lower level featured an exhibit space which housed sculptures, paintings and literature. Vibrant carnival costumes were on display for Trinidad and Tobago. Grenada, known for its spices, featured an exhibit area entitled "The Story of Nutmeg". The ground floor also boasted a refreshment/lounge area where live steel music was played on the lagoon fronting the bar. A thrust stage located on the upper floor also featured live entertainment. Four hyperbolic paraboloids comprising the roof formation. Sturctural steel frame with Fir plywood, battens and baked on aluminum panels. (S: 80' x 90' --- A: 14.023 sq. ft. --- H: 28')
