        Armine Drummond Nicolls was born on December 5, 1854, in Lennoxville, Quebec, son of Jasper Hume Nicolls (1818-1877), an Anglican priest and first Principal of Bishop's University.

        He was a lawyer. He attended Bishop’s University (M.A., 1879) and McGill University (B.C.L., 1890). He assisted with the preparation of "The Civil Code of Lower Canada" (3rd ed., 1880).

        He died on March 29, 1889, in Quebec City, Quebec.
