        History

Pamela (Pam) Dunn (née Osla Jane Holt) was born on July 13, 1924, in Canada.

She was a grand-daughter of Sir Herbert Holt, one of Montreal’s richest industrialists. She spent much of her substantial inheritance on philanthropy. She was a long-time supporter of the Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation, Bishop’s University, Sun Youth, Dans la rue, The Douglas Hospital, the Montreal Association for the Blind, the Butters Foundation, the Bahamas National Trust, and numerous other charities. She received an honourary doctorate from Bishop's University. During World War II, she enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and served in Halifax. With her husband Timothy, she spent most of her time in the Bahamas and at Les Noix, the ancestral Holt property in the Laurentians. She touched the lives of many people with her dynamic energy and enthusiasm for sports, theatre, education, and fundraising.

In 1943, she married Timothy Hibbard Dunn and they had six children. She died on June 24, 2008, in Montréal, Quebec.
