Maude Mary Steele or Steel was born in 1870, in Montreal, Quebec. In 1896, she married George Ernest Muir (d. 1902) and in 1906, she re-married Dr. Francis Eugene Devlin, a physician, surgeon, and psychiatrist, head of the St. Jean de Dieu Hospital, and Crown alienist for the Province of Quebec. She died on April 26, 1935, in Montreal, Quebec.
