History

Founded in 1861, this lithography business had its start in Leipzig before expanding in the 1880s to open offices in London, Italy, France, Belgium and the United States. Primarily known for printing cards for an export market, Meissner & Buch also entered the art publishing business and printed postcards. They were recognized for the high quality of their chromolithographic prints. The company was acquired by the state during the Cold War and was later dissolved.
