        History

        John Walter McOuat was born on June 7, 1858, in Québec, Canada.

        He was a teacher and school inspector. He was a member of the Provincial Association of Protestant Teachers of Quebec. He also served as an editor of "The Educational Record of the Province of Quebec," a monthly, published under the authority of the Protestant Committee of the Board of Education.

        In 1888, he married Julia Ann Armstrong (1867–1927). He died on February 26, 1932, in Lachûte, Argenteuil, Québec.
