History

Hector McLean or MacLean was born in 1783 in Kingairloch, Scotland, the heir to the Estate of Kingairloch. He sold the estate and came to Pictou, Nova Scotia in 1803, where he set up a business on Deacons Wharf with his brother-in-law, Simon Fraser. He married a daughter of Captain Simon Fraser (father of explorer and fur trader Simon Fraser). He died in Pictou in 1827.
