McGillivrays, Thain and Company was formed in 1822 by Thomas Thain, a fur trader and former president of the New North West Company. He managed the company from 1822 to 1825. The company served as a business agent for the Hudson's Bay Company. It encountered serious financial difficulties and was dissolved in 1825.
