        History

        Hon. Edward George Percy Littleton, 3rd Baron Hatherton, was born on August 15, 1842, in Richmond, Surrey, England.

        In 1861, he entered the army and was in Canada with the Brigade of Guards (Jan. 1862-Sept. 1864). He served as a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Staffordshire. He was also a Superintendent of the Military Gymnasia in London, England, an Instructor of Musketry to 2nd Battery Grenadier Guards, and Regimental Adjutant to the Grenadier Guards. In 1875, he was appointed Military Secretary to the Earl of Dufferin, Governor-General of Canada. He was awarded Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.).

        In 1867, he married Charlotte Louisa Rowley (1844–1923). He died on August 24, 1930, in Cannock, Staffordshire, England.
