        History

Henry Lempriere was a British military officer who served in the Royal Artillery and was later posted to Jersey. He was the father of Everard Philip Lempriere (1851–1891), an amateur naturalist recognized for his significant contributions to the study of Southeast Asian birds. Through specimen collecting and exploration in the region, Everard helped advance ornithological knowledge and provided material that led to the identification and description of several new species.
