Samuel Milton Klages was a prominent American collector, amateur entomologist, and ornithologist. He spent decades leading extensive scientific expeditions throughout the Neotropics, including northern Venezuela, French Guiana, and the Brazilian Amazon. He is highly regarded in the scientific community for contributing over 29,000 avian specimens to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His rigorous field collection vastly expanded Western scientific knowledge of South American biodiversity.
