        History

Frank Price Jepson was a British entomologist and zoologist who specialized in economic entomology, plant pest control, and agricultural zoology. He served as the Government Entomologist in Fiji before later moving to Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in the 1920s to work as the Controller of Plant Pests within the Department of Agriculture. He is well-regarded for his pioneering efforts in biological control, such as his 1919 expeditions to Java to search for parasites to control the destructive banana weevil. His work in Fiji resulted in the discovery of new insect species, such as the ant Strumigenys jepsoni, and his collections of Coccidae (scale insects) were the subject of formal taxonomic descriptions.
