Exterior view photograph. Italy Pavilion exterior (lot C-442). The one storey pavilion housed a kitchen, administration offices and four public sections at various levels of the ground plane. The sloping roof; simple yet striking in its form dominated the face of the pavilion making it an instant attraction. A 150 seat restaurant serving traditional Italian cuisine was housed in the first of four public sections. Three abstract sculptures were placed on top of the roof structure marking the location of each of the other three themed public exhibits. The first exhibit was entitled "Poetry" portrayed spritual values in the Italian culture. The second exhibit, "Custom", displayed art and artifacts characteristic of Italian life. The final section, "Progress", exhibited a 'forward-looking' Italy. Circular and rectangular volumes covered by a continuously curving rectangular roof (convex to the ground plane).
