Medieval cuisine

File relate chiefly to European medieval food history, including notes and conference materials are included from 1990 medieval cuisine conference at the Université de Montréal. Also included are research materials and conference presentations related to European early modern and North American Indigenous food history.

Nutrition sources

File includes research materials and guidelines on nutrition, including from the U.S. government, Canadian Council of Food and Nutrition, including copies of the Canada Food Guide from 1961, 1992, and 2007 and other governmental publications, information sheets on the Mediterranean diet, clippings, correspondence, article photocopies and reprints, and notices of talks and workshops on health and nutrition.

Retail and wholesale

File consists of conference materials, pamphlets from food producers, articles on the food industry and the retail and wholesale of food products, many by James E. Tillotson, and drafts of articles on Canadian grocery stores and food shopping (including draft of article never published).

Salmonella

File consists of correspondence and clipping of article regarding 2008 Salmonella scare involving tomatoes in the United States.

Strawberries

File contains research materials, press releases, notes, lists of growers with contact information, correspondence, clippings, recipes, and pamphlets about strawberries.

Maple

File contains pamphlets, maple producer and "cabane à sucre" information, clippings, information sheets, a poster, magazine "An International Touch of Maple," correspondence, and recipes for a range of maple products.

Vegetables and herbs

File consists of clippings, correspondence, and recipes for vegetables including corn, sea parsley, potatoes (and poutine), cucumbers, fiddleheads, asparagus, legumes, lettuce, and tomatoes, informational pamphlets and handwritten notes on growers, articles on growing vegetables, 9 photographs of farm stands, and food packaging.

Estrie

File contains brochures, magazine clippings, business cards, letters with pamphlets, a handwritten schedule of appointments, documents printed on home printer on continuous paper of recipes, a printed menu, printed background information about Auberge Hatley, photocopies of handwritten recipes and printed recipes with annotations, and a tourist guide, relating to Estrie.

Meats

File contains pamphlets, informational packets, notes, lists of producers with contact information, correspondence, clippings, recipes, governmental and provincial publications, and pamphlets about Quebec and Canadian meat, including pork, poultry, lamb, veal, and venison.

Canadian cuisine

File contains materials on Canadian (not Quebec cuisine) including newspaper clippings from the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, the Plain Dealer, the Oregonian, and Times-Union (Rochester, NY), and letters and recipes from food writers Elizabeth Baird (Ontario), Marie Nightingale (Nova Scotia -- with photograph), and Barbara McQuade (Vancouver). File also includes substantial clippings, recipes, and background information on Acadian cuisine, and clippings from Homemakers Magazine.
