Diploma

Diploma entitled "Collegium Medicorum et Chirurgorum" which was presented to Edward D. Worthington. Printed on parchment complete with the seal. It is signed by Russell, Marmett and Belleau.

Lecture

Lecture on the "History of Medicine" by E. D. Worthington. It is incomplete and the pages are tied together with a piece of cord. Handwritten.

Envelope

An unmarked white envelope containing the four negatives of the caricatures of Knox, Goodsir, Munro and Roberson (items 1/7-10) Which have been taken from items 1/1-2.

Letter

Letter from E. B. Worthington, Sherbrooke to Dr. Heagerty, Ottawa. It refers to the Dr. Gellie to Dr. Skey letter and E. D. Worthington's connection with a case of worms. It lists other military letters of E. D. Worthington as Acting Assistant Surgeon to the Imperial Forces in 1840-1. It is not signed and looks like a carbon copy. Typed.

Memorandum from W. H. Kerr. to E. D. Worthington

Memorandum from W. H. Kerr. Montreal to E. D. Worthington, Sherbrooke on letterhead from Kerr & Carter, Advocates. It concerns the verdict of the Grand Jury with regards to the bills against him - they returned "Ignoranus".

Letter

Letter from E. D. Worthington to his sons. A fatherly letter asking the children to be good and keep their feet warm. Reference is made to Miss Bostwick, whom they were staying with, Mr. Morkills and Mr. Osgoods. In the top right hand corner E. B. Worthington has written "We were sent away to care of Miss Bostwick (near Cemetry Prospect Str) when Eva died of scarlet fever". Handwritten.

"Certificate"

A handmade certificate in red and black done by the officers and constables of "Q" Division for Mr. & Mrs. Autrobus who were being transferred from the command of that Division. Signed by the Maple Creek Assoc. and in the right hand bottom corner are the initials G.V.T.(?). Handwritten.

Excerpt from the Minutes of the College of Surgeons. On Sept. 24, a letter from a Robert Henry Russell is read. On Feb. 3 Worthington's application is recommended by the President's Council and unanimously granted. Handwritten.

An unused postcard of a view entitled 'Pretty View at Sherbrooke, Que.' It looks as if part of the left side has been torn away.

Schedule of courses

A summary of Edward D. Worthington's education in Edinburgh during the years 1833 to 1843. On the outside are listed the prescribed courses. The inside section entitled 'Course of Study' is divided into winter and summer sections and for each Worthington has supplied the subject of lectures, name of professor, place where attended and the duration of couses. The back is addressed To the Treasurer of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Handwritten and printed.
