The earlier dates of the fonds concern John Monk, Elizabeth Monk’s grandfather, and consists of genealogical tables, originals of his and his wife’s wills and a xerox copy of his admission to the Bar of Lower Canada. There are letters from both, Elizabeth Monk’s mother and father, some of which cover the years her father was prospecting in Yukon. Later dates include newspaper clippings recording many of the outstanding events in Elizabeth Monk’s life. There are a few personal letters, a copy of her valedictory address to the Class of 1919 and correspondence relating to the McGill Marlet Memorial Fund established after her death. Fonds consists chiefly of a scrapbook created by Eleanor Wallis, née Eleanor Fisher, while a nurse at the Grenfell Mission in St. Anthony, Newfoundland, as well as diplomas and certificates for her and her husband, the physician Allan D. Wallis, and reprints of medical articles by Allan D. Wallis. The Grenfell album consists of photographs taken by Eleanor from 1933-1934 and printed items such as postcards, calendar pictures, and reproductions of photos made for sale by the Grenfell Mission. Photographs have handwritten captions with some personal annotations. One of the postcards shows a young nurse walking along a stretch of road leading to the village of St. Anthony's: this is Eleanor Fisher. Some later photocopies have been taped or laid in. Thirteen certificates and diplomas attest to Eleanor Fisher's training as a nurse (1929) and Allan D. Wallis's training as a physician (1925-1959), including Eleanor's Registered Nurse certificate, diploma from the Training School of Nurses of the Pennsylvania Hospital, and pediatrics nursing course certificate, and certificates attesting to Allan's residency training at the Pennsylvania Hospital, medical licence and diplomas, board certification in pathology, and a presidential certificate of appointment as an examining physician for the Pennsylvania Selective Service (this last is accompanied by a letter from the Governor of Pennsylvania). Two folders contain reprints of articles by Allan. D Wallis dating between 1941 and 1954. There are also 9 prints of photographs from the scrapbook, with captions on verso, accompanied by negatives. Lastly, there is one copy of a poem entitled "The Nurse" on oversized paper, the College of American Pathologists Code of Ethics, and one large group portrait photograph of hospital staff.

Most of the collection consists of certificates and diplomas awarded to Eleanor McGarry from McGill as well as from other medical associations. There are exam results from all stages of her education, souvenirs from medical student days and a small amount of personal correspondence. As well there are two bound photo albums containing studio portraits from the late 1800s, not all of which are identified.

Included in the McGarry fonds are papers from Dr. Percy Wright (b. 1882). Dr. Wright graduated from McGill (M.D. 1908). He was a consultant Otolaryngologist at the Children's Memorial Hospital (later the Montreal Children's Hospital), the Verdun General Hospital and The Catherine Booth Hospital. His collection of correspondence, journals, and lectures falls mainly between 1930 and 1939.

A letter from Dr. John McCrae, written from the No. 3 Canadian General Hospital, describes religious services at the hospital and provides some general news of the hospital as well.

The collection consists of typescripts and proofs of stories, essays and reviews.
