He acted as god-father to Marian's baby, baptized earlier in the week. He is glad to hear that Frank returned home safely. He has been boarding with a nice fellow named Henderson. He gives his address at 48, St. Urbain Street. His Dutch is not progressing as rapidly as he hoped.

Osler writes to inform Shepherd that at the recent meeting of the Faculty of Medicine of McGill, Shepherd was appointed Demonstrator of Anatomy. Osler recommends some courses in London and Vienna that Shepherd should attend before his appointment in August. He suggests that Shepherd take a course on the Microscope with Klein at the Brown Institute. Dr. Campbell has resigned as the chair of Surgery at McGill, but remains as Dean of the Faculty. Fenwick has succeeded Campbell, and Roddick has been appointed to Chemical Surgery.

Malloch(?) responds to Cushing's request for information on Osler's life in Montreal and the "footing dinner." He quotes Dr. Shepherd's description of the dinners and hopes to get further information from Dr. Roddick.
