Johnson, that started Osler on his scientific career. Osler was not an exceptionally brilliant scholar as a boy, but had great powers of concentration and determination. Osler broke the record for throwing a cricket ball. In 1867, Osler matriculated at Trinity and intended to enter the Church. After a violent fight with the Provost, he decided to take up medicine.
