“A recent case of coarctation of the aorta may interest you. This was a boy of 19 who died suddenly while skating. I saw him 12 months before for a subacute rheumatic infection, during which he developed evidence of an aortic valvular endocarditis…At autopsy there was a hemopericardium with a rupture of the first part of the aorta which was dilated and very thin walled…”
