Statistical Computerized Review of Patients that have undergone Vineberg Types of Revascularization Surgery over the Past 29 Years

Subseries consists of files on a project of Vineberg to complete a statistical study on the patients who have a Vineberg Operation, a follow-up of all his patients. This project was done in collaboration with a team from Duke University. "The cards have been jointly drawn up by Dr.Galen S. Wagner, Chief of Cardiology at Duke University, Dr. G.A. Klassen Department of Cardiology at RVH, Dr. John Shanks, senior cardiologist at RVH, Dr. Maurice McGregor, Prof. Of Medicine, RVH and Dr. Vineberg. Two research fellows have been involved in the project Manuel Scarowsky and Thomas Cherian.
The objective is to computerize the results of patients suffering from coronary artery disease who have undergone Vineberg operation and compare their results with those of patients treated medically or by aortocoronary vein bypass grafts.

Curriculum Vitae, Honours and Other Personal Information

The sub-series of six files contains biographical informations pertaining to Arthur Vineberg's career, family and honours that he received through his career. Includes curriculum vitaes, resume for Who's Who publications, a speech, a program, a business card, certificates and one photograph.

Research Fellows and Research Assistants

Sub-series containing files on research fellows' works who came to work with or under Dr. Vineberg's supervision or information regarding them, including immigration information, CVs, submission of articles, thesis, seminar (files in alphabetical order). Includes notes, research works, photographs, x-rays, reprints, correspondence, memorandums, telegrams, curriculum vitae, forms, graphs, operations records, research seminar lecture, drafts, reports on master thesis, drafts of articles, newspaper clippings, copies of certificates, notice of termination, research project, manuscripts of papers, notebooks, slides, glass slides, postcard, thesis, microscope slides, fellow permit.

Series consists of two sub-series.

Includes deposit slips, statements, notes, account books and one ledger.

Legal Affairs and Insurance

The sub-series is divided in two subsub-series on the legal procedures taken by Vineberg against Samuel Novick Inc., a truck company, after an accident in New York City which caused physical diseases to himself and his wife and on his insurances claims and couverture.

Financing and Donations

Sub-series consists of nineteen files of documents related to the financing of research work of Dr. Vineberg. We can find a file on the legal constitution of the Vineberg Heart Foundation through which Vineberg accumulates private donations. There are files on donations and also requests of contributions to previous patients, individuals, companies and politicians.
Includes thank you letters, solicitation letters, newspaper clippings, list of donors, memorandums, notebook, one report of the House of Commons Debates, copy of charter, notes, one last will and testament, drafts of letters, articles.

Reprints

Subseries contains copies of reprints published by Arthur Vineberg in scientific and medical journals and chapters of books on which Vineberg collaborated. It covers all his career but more specifically after 1950 until 1975. These reprints reflect the progress of Vineberg's work and his findings on myocardial revascularization. Subseries contains 98 files, arranged by date of publication.
Includes reprints and photocopies.

Surgical and Medical Instruments

Sub-subseries contains files regarding Vineberg's works for development of surgical and medical instruments as well as instrument to help recovery after heart surgery (special mattress). It also shows relations with companies and his work to help them develop pliers and surgical instruments. Also includes information about the ameroid constrictor and the ivalon sponge.
