Osler was a great friend of John MacAlister, who took an active part in the foundation of the School of Librarianship, and it is very possible that the two men had often talked over the matter. Butler responds to Cushing's inquiries about the project to rebuild the library at the University of Louvain. Letter to Harvey Cushing from H.M. Barlow, Royal College of Physicians, Pall Mall East, London, England. Barlow responds to Cushing's inquiry into the Moxon Medal. The only surgeon to have won the medal was Jonathan Hutchinson. [For details see CUS417/23.6]

Letter to Harvey Cushing from Frank Lester Pleadwell, Captain, Medical Corps, U.S. Navy, Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, USA. Pleadwell responds to Cushing's appeal in the American Medical Association Journal for material relating to Osler. Sayle responds to Cushing's appeal for material concerning Osler and encloses Osler's letters to him from 1914-1919. Sayle writes of his friendship with Osler, and of their collaboration over the Bibliotheca Osleriana.

Letter to Harvey Cushing from Arthur F. Hurst, 17, Devonshire Street, Portland Place, West, England. Hurst informs Cushing that the author of the verses signed "S.S." on Osler's text book, which appeared in the Guy's Gazette, was H.O. Brookhouse.
