Letter to Arnold Carl Klebs, June 25, 1910

Letter to Arnold Carl Klebs from William Osler, 13, Norham Gardens, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. Glad to hear of him from Brown, whom he met in Paris. Brown and Jacobs had given him satisfactory account of his life. Jokes about the fact that Mrs. Klebs has made him a respectable member of the society. Mentions that they are sailing for Quebec on the 29th of July. Revere has to return for school in the middle of September, but Osler will stay until the beginning of October. Surprised that the Servetus monument at Vienna has not been erected yet. Sends him his address on Servetus. The Annemasse monument is very good.

Letter to Arnold Carl Klebs, June 25, 1912

Letter to Arnold Carl Klebs from William Osler, 13, Norham Gardens, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. He had asked Fock to name the lowest figure for the Pagel collection before cabling to Baltimore. Asks him to send the titles of the Servetus pamphlets, of which he has a number. He has the Mosheim he referred to and his "Historia." There is a larger book that he does not have. The first edition of the "Hudibras" was in 1726. He has a "Religio Jurisprudentis" and several other, but not the "Juriconsulti." Sorry that he missed the Nurnberg Restitutio (Christianismi of Servetus). Payne left him his. Comments on the Pagel catalogue. Thanks.

Letter to Arnold Carl Klebs, June 20, 1912

Letter to Arnold Carl Klebs from William Osler, 13, Norham Gardens, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. Fock has sent him the catalogue. Comments about his content. Would be useful for the Johns Hopkins Medical School, only that it does not worth the price asked. Glad he liked the Linacre. Hiersemann sent him a word about an Aderlass Kalender, of which they have a number of the very earliest at the Bodleian. Have asked Fock for the lowest figure for the Pagel Library before writing to Baltimore.

Letter to Arnold Carl Klebs, December 29, 1913

Letter to Arnold Carl Klebs from William Osler, 13, Norham Gardens, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. Sends him an edition of The Praise of Folly which he has induced Mrs. Allen (the wife if the man they called Erasmus Allen) to edit. Wishes he could find the original edition of Erasmus's Praise of the Medicine. Saw one of his last letter at the Bodleian, signed Aegra manu. Informs him that Walsh wrote him that they hope to have a Billing Memorial Library Building, and the latter thinks that might be a special inducement to Klebs. Greetings for the New Year.

Letter to Arnold Carl Klebs from William Osler, 13, Norham Gardens, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. Concerns the opportunity to buy Pagel's Library. Would like to induce Marburg to buy the books for the Johns Hopkins University. He had written to Sudhoff asking him to send him the catalogue, and if there was any hurry, he would cable Marburg or Welch to see Sudhoff. Comments about a Spanish item on Syphilis (Diaz de Isla, "el Male Serpentino," Sevilla, 1542. Kind comments on Sudhoff with whom he wishes to spend a week and visit the Institute. Mentions that he got a fine 1478 Celsus of which he has a copy that he will hand over to one of the libraries.

He got two letters of Haller for Cushing at the Amsterdam sale. Amused by his Maccaroni comment (dietetic regime of Comb at Ouchy). Civilities.
