      History

      Arthur Henry Holland was a late 19th-century British field ornithologist, egg collector, and rancher, based in Argentina. He settled in Argentina as an estate owner and ranch manager and used his time there to study regional wildlife, making significant contributions to South American avian biology. He published foundational research papers in the premier ornithology journal The Ibis between 1891 and 1896, including his notable "Short Notes on the Birds of Estancia Espartilla, Argentine Republic." In 1889, he shipped a collection of 565 Argentine bird eggs to the British Museum to aid international research.
