      Joaquín González Hidalgo y Rodríguez was a Spanish biologist and malacologist. He is recognized as one of the founding fathers of Spanish malacology. His monumental multi-volume work, "Obras Malacológicas," comprehensively documented the terrestrial and marine molluscs of the Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic Islands, the Philippines, and Spanish territories in Africa.
