E. A. Haynes was a professional land surveyor in colonial British Guiana (present-day Guyana), serving as both a licensed Sworn Land Surveyor and a Government Surveyor during the early twentieth century. Holding the rank of Fourth Class Officer within the colonial civil service, Haynes was actively engaged in surveying work between 1907 and 1918, producing numerous detailed plans of estates, plantations, land parcels, and residential blocks throughout the Demerara district and the Linden area. His work contributed to the mapping, administration, and development of land resources during a significant period of expansion in the colony.
