History

John Hall was a tanner, baker, and farmer who lived in Montreal. He was born on 10 February 1771 in Andover, Massachusetts, to William Hall and Christina Barbara Juncken Hall. John worked as a tanner in Hanover until moving to Montreal in approximately 1800. There, he worked as a farmer and then as a baker. He also joined a Masonic lodge in Montreal. He married Charlotte Morrison, daughter of the merchant James Morrison, on 15 February 1807. They had two daughters who survived to adulthood, Charlotte and Harriet Ann. John's wife Charlotte died on 22 September 1818, and John died on 15 July 1822. After their deaths, John's daughters were raised by his brother, Benjamin Hall.
