History

Chauncey William Goodrich was born on November 17, 1864, in Cleveland, Ohio.

He was an American clergyman. He graduated from Yale College (B.A., 1886) and the Union Theological Seminary of Bowdoin College (1891). He served at parishes in New York City (1891-1894), in Orange, New Jersey (1895-1901), and at the American Church in Paris, France (1901-1910). In 1912, he returned to New York City. In 1913, he brought his family to Brunswick, Maine to begin his pastorate at the First Parish Church. He received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Bowdoin College in 1915. In 1917, during World War One, he was called back to the American Church in Paris, France. In 1926, he retired from active duty, and with his wife, returned to the house that they had built in Brunswick, Maine. He remained there until his death in 1956.

In 1894, he married Annie Blair Stevens (1867–1943). He died in 1956 in Portland, Maine.
