        History

        Raffaello Gestro was a prominent Italian entomologist and long-time Director of the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Genova. A leading coleopterist, he described 936 new species and published 147 papers, focusing on Hispine leaf beetles and Scarabaeoidea collected in Africa and Asia. He also served as President of the Società Entomologica Italiana.
