        William T. Foster was born on November 19, 1867, in Missouri.

        He was a field naturalist and collector. He was a seaman who became a shopkeeper at Sapucay, Paraguay (1894–1915) and regularly supplied bird and mammal specimens to the British Museum.

        In 1891, he married Grace L. Ward (1872–1945). He died on September 4, 1927, in Tyler, Smith, Texas.
