Findlay, Francis Robert, 1888-1977

Francis R. Findlay was born in Montreal in 1888. After studying at the University of Pennsylvania, he became his father's partner in 1913. He practised architecture with his father, interrupted by service in the First World War, until the partnership was dissolved in 1941 upon the retirement of Robert Findlay. Francis Findlay then continued a limited independent practice until his retirement in 1959. Concurrently, Francis Findlay worked with the architect Earl Lockhart at Defense Industries Ltd from 1941 to 1953. From 1953 to 1959 he worked for Pringle, a Westmount consulting engineer firm.

Francis R. Findlay est né à Montréal en 1888. Après avoir étudié à l'Université de Pennsylvanie, il est devenu l'associé de son père en 1913. Cette association ne fut interrompue que par la participation de Francis Findlay à la Première Guerre mondiale et se poursuivit jusqu'à la retraite de Robert Findlay en 1941. Francis Findlay continua par la suite une pratique privée restreinte jusqu'à sa retraite en 1959. Parallèlement, il travailla avec l'architecte Earl Lockhart pour Defense Industries Ltd de 1941 à 1953. De 1953 à 1959, il travailla pour Pringle, une firme d'ingénieur conseil de Westmount.
