        History

Henry George Fiedler was the proprietor of a respected antiquarian and scholarly bookshop in New York City that specialized in scientific literature and serial publications. A graduate of the University of Leipzig in Germany, he immigrated to the United States in 1906 and began his American career in the book trade by managing the foreign-language books department of the prominent firm G. E. Stechert & Co. In October 1919, he founded his own business, focusing on academic, technical, and scientific works, as well as historical journals and rare periodicals. Operating from locations including Chambers Street in Manhattan, Fiedler established a reputation as an important dealer in specialized and hard-to-find scholarly publications.
