History
Thomas Frye Lewis Evans was born on December 19, 1845, in Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario.
He was a Canadian Anglican priest. He was educated at Upper Canada College and Trinity College, Toronto (B.A., 1866; M.A., 1871). He was ordained deacon in 1869 and priest in 1870. He was a missionary at Norwich, Ontario (1869-1871), then Curate at Christ Church Cathedral, Montreal (1871-1874) where he was made an honourable canon in 1873. He also became a Rector of St. Stephen’s Church, Lachine (1874-1902), Archdeacon of Montreal (1886-1902), and Dean of Montreal in 1902. He was also a governor of the Robert Jones Convalescent Hospital. He received the degree of D.C.L. from his Alma Mater in 1894.
In 1873, he married Maria Stewart Bethune (1840–1903) and in 1908, he remarried Emily Elizabeth Bethune (1865-1946). He died on October 4, 1920, in Westmount, Montreal, Quebec.
