History

Vivian de Vere Dowker was born in 1864 or 1865, in Quebec.

He was a clothing manufacturer and managing director of the Crescent Manufacturing Co. Ltd. in Montreal. His father, Lieutenant-Colonel George Dowker immigrated to Canada from Salton, York, England in 1847 and a few years later came to Ste-Anne-du-Bout-de-l'Ile-Sud where he built "Throstle Lodge", today known as McGill Tadja Hall. Vivian Dowker became the first Mayor of Baie-D’Urfé, Quebec (1911-1917).

In 1889, he married Anna Veasy or Veasey. He died on March 2, 1923, in Quebec.
