History

James Henry Denison was born on June 17, 1817, in Seneca, New York.

He attended Union College at Schenectady, N.Y. and for some time followed the occupation of teaching. He also learned the trade of carpenter and joiner. He settled in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin where he owned and cultivated land. He was also a voluminous and interesting writer and contributed numerous historical articles to the newspapers and other publications. Denison was a well-respected man who taught honesty, temperance, virtue, and true manliness by constantly practicing them.

In 1846, he married Louise Cole (1826–1902). He died on November 28, 1907, in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin.
