Demuth, Adolf

Adolph Demuth was the proprietor of Demuth Brothers, a well-known nineteenth-century manufacturing firm based at 89 Walker Street, New York City. The company earned a strong reputation for producing scientific and decorative glassware. Although Demuth Brothers was initially founded as a partnership, Adolph Demuth eventually became its sole operator by the late nineteenth century. The firm was especially noted for creating lifelike artificial glass eyes for birds and animals, as well as ready-made glass icicles that taxidermists used to enhance winter-themed wildlife displays.
