History
Grant Milton Curtis was born on August 2, 1867, in Wayland, Steuben, New York.
He was an American expert in poultry raising. In 1891, he developed an interest in poultry. The following year, he established the Reliable Poultry Farm in Quincy, Illinois, where he bred various breeds of standard fowl, including ducks and geese. In 1891, he also founded the Reliable Poultry Journal, serving as its editor and owner. From 1903 to 1917, Mr. Curtis served as the president of Cyphers Incubator Company in Buffalo, NY, which was the largest manufacturer of poultry-raising equipment and supplies in the world at that time. He held at least six American utility patents for incubators and related equipment. Additionally, Mr. Curtis was the editor-in-chief of several poultry magazines, including American Poultry World, which was published from 1909 to 1917 in Buffalo, NY. He became President of the American Poultry Association in 1906 and was regarded as an expert in raising and showing poultry. Mr. Curtis was also the author of the books "Success with Poultry" (1902) and "Artificial Incubating and Brooding" (1902).
In 1889, he married Cora Mary Avise 1867–1945. He died on January 16, 1934, in Dayton, Montgomery, Ohio.
