William Clint was born in November 1847, in Quebec.

He was an Englishman working as an insurance agent. His daughter Mabel Brown Clint (1874-1939) was a Canadian nurse and author, who served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War I in France, Belgium, and Greece.

In 1872, he married Caroline Brown (1849–1920). He died in 1925 in Quebec City, Quebec.
