        History

        C. Chevalier, Esq., was an English amateur naturalist and longtime superintendent of the Eastern Telegraph Company in Aden (today's Yemen) in the late 19th century. In 1888, he collected and presented adult bird specimens from Aden to the British Museum (Natural History). These specimens helped European scientists understand the Gulf of Aden's unique regional biodiversity.
