        History

French composer and conductor Robert Chauvigny was born in Paris. His name is often associated with Édith Piaf whom he first met in 1944. He sometimes accompanied her sometimes, and his Robert Chauvigny Orchestra provided the back-up on many of her recordings. Of the 19 musical entries for Chauvigny in the French Encyclopedisque, six are for recordings with Piaf. He is credited on one movie soundtrack, that of the 1948 film “Nine Boys, One Heart”.
