        History

Eloise Burner (later Eloise Burner Craig) was a prominent local historical figure and newspaper editor in Normal, Illinois. Born in Normal in 1906, she attended Illinois State University (then Illinois State Normal University), where she worked on the student newspaper, The Vidette. She and her husband, Robert Craig, later served as long-time editors of The Normalite, a local community newspaper. She also co-authored "Souvenirs of History, Normal, IL," a book documenting the town's early history. Because of her contributions to the town, a public park in Normal—Eloise Burner Craig Park—was named in her honour.
