        History

Harry Thomas Beddows was a chief librarian, museum curator, and local historian who played a key role at the Shrewsbury Free Public Library & Museum in Shropshire, England. In collaboration with W. G. Fletcher, he compiled the influential Index-Catalogue of the Reference Department, Local Section, with List of Manuscripts (1903), an important reference work documenting publications and manuscript sources connected with the history of Shrewsbury and the wider county of Shropshire. Beyond his responsibilities in the library and museum, Beddows was actively involved in local historical and archaeological circles, contributing research and scholarly material to regional societies. Through his dedication, he helped preserve and promote access to valuable historical records, manuscripts, and other heritage resources for both researchers and the general public.
