        James Angus was a prominent amateur entomologist and naturalist residing in the village of West Farms, N.Y. (now a neighbourhood in the Bronx). He was an expert field collector who spent decades gathering and breeding Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths) and Hymenoptera from the woods and meadows of Westchester County/New York.
