James Claude Webster was born on October 17, 1830, in London, England.

He was a lawyer, judge, and barrister. He studied law at the Middle Temple and was called to the Bar in 1854. Webster was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London and a member of its council. He served as Secretary of the Athenaeum Club, London. His article "Inns of Court" appeared in the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica.

In 1857, he married Georgiana Susan Hardcastle Spry (1833–1882), and in 1884, he remarried Frances Juliana Hooman (1852–1938). He died on October 25, 1908, in Torquay, Devon, England.

Arthur Douglas Webster was born on April 30, 1857, in Kentville, Kings County, Nova Scotia.

He was a physician. He graduated from McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine in 1878. Soon afterwards, he settled in Edinburgh, Scotland. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1884 and practiced medicine for sixty years. Before World War I, he served as Volunteer Medical Officer of the 4th Battalion Royal Scots. On the outbreak of the war in 1914, he was appointed Medical Officer of the 1st Edinburgh Battalion and later 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th Battalion Royal Scots. He was awarded the O.B.E. (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for services rendered during the war.

In 1881, he married Mary Wilks Parsons Logan (1856–1933). He died on March 15, 1841, in Edinburgh, Scotland.
